The New Bop Brigade, founded by Steve Messick and David Franklin, performed in Seattle between 2002 and 2008 with Chris Stover on trombone, Travis Ranney on tenor sax, David Franklin on piano, Steve Messick on double bass, and Ken French on drums. The New Bop Brigade's music, composed by Messick and Franklin, was inspired by the works of Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock from the mid 60s.
